Who I Am & Why This Campaign Matters

Hi, my name is Basti, but in Gambia, they call me Basiru. Over the past four years, I’ve been living between Indonesia, Gambia, and Germany, dedicating my life to fulfilling **five promises** — each one rooted in connection, compassion, and real change.

One of these promises began with my close friend **Andi**, who vowed to bring his wife **Anja** home to Thailand before she passed away from cancer. After her death, Andi and his best friend Simon cycled all the way from Germany to Thailand, carrying Anja’s ashes — and keeping his promise. That journey sparked something powerful in all of us.

Now, it's time to fulfill another promise — one made by my dear friend **Sainey** to his father: to give the school his father built in **Brufut, Gambia** a future full of light, education, and opportunity for children with **disabilities** and **very poor backgrounds**.

Together, we’ve already:

* Repaired the school building, roof, and toilets

* Painted and restored classrooms

* Built a new classroom with *World of Peace*

* Established a volunteer camp on the beach to support **Brufut Beach Association** and their vision of sustainable ecotourism

Now, we need your help to take the next big step:

**Sending a container** filled with **250 solar panels** and **school furniture** to power classrooms, energize gardens, and ensure that every child has a place to sit, learn, and grow.

This is more than a campaign — it’s part of a global movement we call **“We Are One”**. A growing family of people who believe in unity, action, and turning promises into reality.
