Hi, my name is Andrew Wilke, and I am the director of the Richmond High Music Department. Our program consists of marching, concert, symphonic, jazz band, two string orchestras and music production. In my eight years at RHS I have been lucky enough to grow our program from only a few students to a full-blown music department with almost 200 students. A big part of our success has been sending a handful of students to La Honda Music Camp each year.

Richmond High comprises nearly 100% low-income students of color, many of whom have to maintain jobs to help support their families. The benefits of sending our students to camp are many and have effects beyond the band room. Sending our students to La Honda advances their musical abilities and allows them to interface with other young people from different communities and backgrounds. Exposing our students to these possibilities builds confidence and opens doors for them.

The cost of going to La Honda Music Camp is $900 per student for tution and a week of room and board. Any support is appreciated! Your donations will be used directly to pay for our RHS music students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.
