Send Ragamuffs to South by Southwest in March '22
Donation protected
Hi Everyone! Ragamuffs here (aka Hailey Finesse), an indie rock/bedroom pop artist from Honolulu, Hawaii. I am excited to share that my band and I are the only musicians representing Hawaii this March 14-20, 2022, at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas as OFFICIAL ARTISTS!!! Coming along for this trip include everyone below that bring Ragamuffs original music to life (in order):
- Hailey Fines (me) on rhythm/lead guitar/lead vocals/songwriter
- Ryan Miyashiro on lead guitar
- Locke Nishihara on drums
- Analiese Esopenko on backing vocals/organelle
- Toni Burroso on bass guitar
We hope you may see the value in this opportunity as you read below. :) We were initially supposed to perform at the festival in 2020, which got canceled due to the pandemic. Finally, this year it is REALLY happening!
About Ragamuffs:
Around 2017, Hailey and former music partner Joseph started Ragamuffs together. Ragamuffs found their momentum playing shows each month as a 4-piece live band and writing original songs. By the summer of 2019, she spearheaded a successful Kickstarter that funded their debut 7 song EP, "Achy Luminescence." Just before the release, they went on their first DIY tour in California playing venues such as Hotel Cafe and The Moroccan Lounge. This EP has since accumulated a growing 3.3M streams on Spotify alone. She later transitioned into a solo artist career, writing her most recent singles, "Used to Be" and "Swimming in Glue." Over time, the band's live shows at Hawaii venues showed a positive trend in crowd turnouts as they brought light to a niche/loyal indie community in the local scene.
By early 2020, they opened for a sold-out Mac DeMarco concert and The Unlikely Candidates at The Republik and were also slated to play at SXSW in 2020.They also got to perform live on Hawaii News Now, and had music featured on a Zippy's commercial and as the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) official trailer song. “Used to Be” and “Lainey Lainey” later made a cameo in 2 episodes of Amazon Prime’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
What is SXSW:
South by Southwest® dedicates itself to helping creative people achieve their goals. Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas, SXSW® is best known for its conference and festivals that celebrate the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture. This year the music festival is happening from March 14 - 20, 2022.
SXSW 2019 drew attendance totaling approximately 417,400, and 2022 will be the first year back
since the historical halt of the event in 2020 due to Covid-19.
SXSW is the stepping stone towards the musical career I've been working towards. Not only is this an excellent opportunity to expose our original songs to a larger audience, but it is a chance to network with music industry professionals that could potentially enable us to further our music on an even larger scale beyond Hawaii.

Guys. This is a big deal for us!

Aren’t they paying for your expenses? Why do you need money?
Music ain't the most glamorous lifestyle.
To be blunt, although SXSW is providing us with a great opportunity and access to the festival, we still need to pay for our own flights, check-in luggage, accommodations, food, and gear rentals for our entire band and team. There is no way I could have made it this far without the help of others, especially the band and my managers from the Bay Area, Debbie Atienza and Chris Zabala.
In total, that is 5 people (including myself) we need to get from Hawaii to Austin, Texas! Because we are pulling from some past savings, our $3,000 goal is just a portion of what we need to at least cover our hotel expenses which will go a long way.

THANK YOU ALL + INCENTIVES:
We leave on MARCH 14th (in 2 weeks!) and because we just found out about our SXSW timeslot a few weeks ago, it doesn't give us much time to plan and prepare as we had hoped. We are so thankful for your continuous support for my musical projects, and you are the reason these dreams are coming to life.
We absolutely love and appreciate you and hope to inspire you to invest in the things that make you happy.
