Help send Aussie French Horn students to Montreal!

Hello! My name is Isabelle, and I am one of 12 students hoping to take a life changing trip to Montreal in Canada to attend the 55th Annual International Horn Symposium. For Australian musicians, isolated on our continent, finding connection with the international music world is a challenge. This is a golden opportunity for all of us to learn and be amongst the most incredible names in the orchestral horn world, like Stefan Dohr, Sarah Willis, and Frøydis Ree Wekre. But we’re all full time students working incredibly hard to support ourselves through our degrees. This trip is only partially funded by our university, so we’re facing thousands of dollars each in out-of-pocket expenses to cover our flights, accommodation, and the significant cost of entry to the Symposium. Your support would mean everything to us; you’d be helping young aspiring classical musicians get their names out into the world! So, who exactly would you be supporting? Our ensemble, QHorns, is comprised of 12 second year to fourth year students, and we’re upholding a decades-long legacy of the QHorns ensemble. 10 years ago, at the 45th International Horn Symposium, QHorns won the University Horn Ensemble competition, and our ambition is to celebrate this tenth anniversary with another win. Your contribution, no matter how small, would lend us a huge helping hand. We study at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, which boasts the most accomplished horn school in Australia, headed by Peter Luff and Ysolt Clark. Graduates from Griffith Conservatorium have gone on to forge careers in prestigious orchestras and ensembles worldwide, like hornist Jenna Breen, singer Katie Noonan, and the famed TwoSet Violin. Like many who’ve come before us, this trip is about showcasing our Australian talent across the globe. We’re 12 very dedicated, excited students keen to make this wonderful journey. But to make ends meet, we need more than just the support of our parents and friends. Please donate to help us make this instrumental trip happen!
