Send QC Robotics Team to FIRST LEGO Championships
Donation protected
Hi. I'm Paula, an alumna of Queen's College Lagos, and I'm raising funds for the school's Robotics team to make it to this year's FIRST LEGO League Championships in Sydney Australia from June 29th to July 3rd.
I'm asking for support from all our "Old Girls" - as we call ourselves - and also seeking support from anyone who has ever had a dream.
This means YOU!
The QC Robotics crew, Team Aurora, has beaten the odds.
Over and over and over again.
They're young. Female. And they're Nigerian.
For 3 years in a row, ceilings were shattered as their intelligence and ingenuity earned them the right to represent Nigeria at the FIRST LEGO League championships.
For 2 years in a row, their dreams were shattered as they lacked the funds needed to travel to the competition.
Who knows what life-changing innovation, what technological marvels they may have produced if only…
If only they could have gone
If only they had the funds
If only we knew they needed money…
Well, now we know.
Now YOU know.
So now they CAN!
Team Aurora plans to have 10 young ladies in Australia, with 3 adult coaches/chaperones, and the goal of this GoFundMe is to raise at least $21,500 toward their travel, accommodation and feeding costs.
However, the true amount needed to get the team there and back and pay for their stay is $72,000. Most of the money will cover the following:
Round-trip tickets plus travel insurance: $45,825
Event Registration: $2100 (for the team only)
Visa-related costs: $1781
Accommodation: $5291
Meals: $1950
Transportation (including Bus Rental): $6250
Contingencies: $3250
Your gift will give these and other girls hope that they will not be shut out of STEM development due to a lack of support.
Your gift will help teach these skilled and hard-working girls that dreams do sometimes come true.
Thank you for...Your Gift.
The funds and accounting will be administered by the Official Alumni association of Queen’s College, Lagos, Nigeria, where Team Aurora are secondary (high school) students.
