** UPDATE **
Chris, Joey and Luke are beyond grateful for the love, encouragement and support they have received so far. Thanks to the generosity of this community, their initial fundraising goal of $12,000 has been met and they will be heading to Puerto Rico later this month! Let's go Team Bahamas!! Since the response has been so favorable, they have asked that we keep this fundraiser active and increase the goal for use at future surf contests and events. Currently Chris Albury is set as the beneficiary for this fundraiser; when the boys get to Florida on the way to Puerto Rico they will be setting up a Bahamas Surf Association account for all donations and endowments.

Local Hope Town surfers Chris Albury, Joey Gale, and Luke Prosa are spearheading the campaign to proudly represent the Bahamas in the 2024 Paris Olympics. If they qualify, this will be the first time the Bahamas will have a national team competing for representation in this sport in over a decade!
We are raising funds to cover the cost of travel, meals, modest accommodations and entrance fees for our local surf team to the ISA (International Surf Association) qualifying trials in Puerto Rico next month, where they will compete against surfers from around the globe for a coveted spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The competition is set to take place in the municipality of Arecibo on the world-reknowned reefbreaks of Margara, a heavy water wave, and the twin breaks of El Pico and Rastrial, both offering solid waves mainly favoring lefts. The competition window is provisionally scheduled from February 22nd to March 2nd, 2024. Puerto Rico is recognized as a world class surfing destination and, over the years, has hosted numerous important international surfing competitions.
