Send Our History Stars to D.C for National History Day!

My name is Jessica Eichstedt, and I am a teacher in Northern Nevada in the Reno/Sparks area. I choose to implemented National History Day into my classroom for the first time this year and it has been an incredible journey to see student engage in history through authentic research. I have three amazing students who have qualified to make it to the national competition in Washington, D.C. This is truly an amazing opportunity for these students, and I would like to support them in their travel needs for this trip!

I am asking for support for these students as a separate entity of my school and district. Our students worked extremely hard to make it this far and have expressed so much excitement in going to nationals.

With the federal grant funding being cut recently, the organization that runs National History Day and our Nevada affiliate were some of the organizations that lost its funding. In years past, our affiliate has done what they could to help support students to attend National History Day from Nevada, however with these cuts and the overall increase of the cost of travel it has made this possibility a little more challenging for some students.

I would greatly appreciate any and all support for our students in their pursuit of competing at the National History Day competition. This will help fund their room and board and registration for the competition.
