Send our Circus to Burmese refugee children

Support Spark! Circus and Phare Ponleu Selpak Cambodia to entertain refugee and migrant children on the border of Thailand

After a long hiatus Spark! is returning to Mae Sot with a fresh, new collaboration with Phare Ponleu Selpak. Phare Ponleu Selpak – meaning The Brightness of the Arts – is a Cambodian non-profit art school and circus located in Battambang, empowering children, youth and communities through artistic, educational, social support and outreach programs since 1994.

Since we’ve last been to these communities there’s been a civil war in Burma and more people are in need from this fresh crisis. New refugee camps are being created in Thailand as people are fleeing across the border. Many schools and social services have been closed or unavailable due to covid. There has never been a greater need for joy and play for these children enduring these circumstances.

We need your support to deliver this exciting new collaborative project. Not only is it great for the kids in Mae Sot, but it will also be a great opportunity for the young students from Phare Ponleu to be able to travel abroad for the first time sharing their incredible talents. This collaboration helps develop our initiative to become a more local charity. Bringing these young people together is an exciting new phase for Spark! Circus.

We’ll be touring, doing workshops and performances for 2 weeks for the children in Mae Sot who have missed the circus now for 2 years. Help us bring back what is often a highlight of the year for them.
