Send Msgr. Jim Fennessy to Rome!
Donation protected
At a recent clergy gathering, Msgr. Jim Fennessy expressed his desire to once more see the Eternal City, to celebrate Mass at St. Peter's, to make a pilgrimage to the many saints of Rome, and to perhaps even see the Pope.
In a moment of filial devotion, I told him that we could absolutely make that happen, and that it would be an honor to take him on such a pilgrimage. He absolutely lit up and has had a pep in his step every time we've brainstormed the idea.
The plan is to fly direct from ATL to FCO on New Year's Day and to come home on January 10, taking an appropriately easy itinerary for Msgr's mobility. I have used SkyMiles for my tickets, so no cost there, but I'd like to give Msgr. the comfort of an "up front" experience for the 9-hour flight. You should know that he insisted on making a "down payment" of $2000 for his expenses.
Funds will be used for:
-8 nights at the clergy bed & breakfast Domus Romana Sacerdotalis near the Vatican
-Msgr. Fennessy's airfare
-Day trip expenses (and possible overnight) in Assisi to pilgrimage to St. Francis, St. Clare, and Blessed Carlo Acutis
-Lunches and Dinners
-Public transportation and taxi costs
-Anything received above our expenses will be given as a gift to Msgr. Fennessy.
If you are able and interested, I invite you to help me get him to Rome--and to have a great time while there--as a huge "thank you" for his decades of Christ-centered priestly ministry.
He has been a joyful and faithful priest for the Archdiocese of Atlanta for 56 years, serving at parishes near and far. He has been a spiritual father and friend to thousands. He has been an absolute delight to have here at All Saints where he refuses to slow down in ministering to the souls entrusted to his care.
Thank you for your consideration!
Peace and God Bless,
