Hurricane Melissa is amongst the strongest hurricanes ever to be recorded in the Caribbean. At the time of writing, most of Jamaica is without power or mains water, infrastructure and homes have been destroyed and flash floods continue to disrupt movement around the island. We don't yet know the full extent of the damage, but the situation will be very challenging in the coming months.

We believe that the people directly affected by this natural disaster know best where money is needed. Whilst there are many charities and aid organisations already doing vital work in Jamaica, most isolated communities will not have access to this support. Direct giving is a proven method of quick, agile and impactful financial support.

We are raising funds to give directly to the people that we know in and around the village of Dundee Pen, Jamaica. Dundee Pen in a small, rural community in the hills outside Lucea, Hanover. We have property in this village and have lived there for many months over the last few years, coming to know the people, businesses, landscapes and animals in this place very well.

Your donations will go directly to people in Dundee Pen and support them in buying the food, water, building materials, medical supplies, fuel, or whatever else it is that they need in this moment of crisis. We will begin to wire money to the community as soon as we are able, and will also be going to Jamaica in December, when we can pass cash on directly.

We will also be matching every donation given from our own funds, so that whatever is raised on this page is doubled.
