Friends of Mike Gilmartin,
First and foremost, Mike knows NOTHING about this and we’re trying to keep it that way. We realize the challenge in keeping it from the man who knows everything and everyone, but we’re grateful for your assistance in doing so at this time.
Believe it or not, Mike is about six weeks away from retirement as he’ll wrap up his time here at UIC on July 30, 2021. His remarkable career his taken him from his alma mater at Elmhurst, to Northwestern, to here at UIC, where he has humbly served since 1997. Recently, Mike shared that one of his dreams would be to travel to Italy for some extremely well-deserved rest and relaxation with his beautiful wife, Julie. As a celebration of his storied career we would like to THANK him in some small way and show our appreciation for the care he has provided to thousands of us throughout his decades of service in college athletics.
We have established this campaign with a $10,000 goal to purchase round-trip airfare, 7-10 days of lodging and little extra money for pizza and wine. Any amount you are generously able to contribute will go directly to Mike and Julie for this adventure.
We are also collecting video messages that will be compiled and shared with Mike and on social media in the days leading up to the final sendoff. You can film your brief message wishing Mike a buon pensionamento using your cell phone. The attached sheet has some good tips to do film that way. Once complete, please save the file using your name (i.e. Dan Yopchick.mov) and upload here:
