Hi! My name is Aiden. I am a 12 year old in 6th grade in Omaha, Nebraska. In March 2024, I competed in the International Academic Competitions Regional Finals for History and Geography. For both subjects, I qualified for the National and International Championships!

As far as I can remember, I have loved learning about geography and history. During the peak of the pandemic, my older sister created an “Around the World” activity, where we watched educational videos, did quizzes, and tried snacks from different countries. Since then, I have kept learning and quizzing on my own. Some of my favorite ways to learn are playing the Flags Around the World board game, being asked trivia questions during car rides, and watching Youtube videos about different subjects.

This competition is an opportunity for me to keep learning and challenge myself to see how far I can go! The National Championships take place during May 2024 in Orlando, Florida. The International Geography Championships take place during July 2024 in Vienna, Austria. The International History Olympiad take place in July 2025 in London, UK. I am SO EXCITED and grateful for the opportunity.

Qualifying for the championships is something I’m already very proud of. I would love to attend these events in person, representing Nebraska and the United States, and have the chance to travel to places I have never been. Even though my family is helping as much as they can to make sure I can go, the cost of registration, travel, hotel, and daily costs for each of these events are a challenge for us at this time.

We’re estimating that we’ll need at least $10,000 for me to attend these events.
