Manny Chavez is a Portales High School senior in Portales, NM who is the 3x New Mexico State 4A Javelin Champion. This year, Manny threw a 208’, making him 1st in the nation in HS javelin... but only for about a week, when another overtook him, but remained in the top 5 in the nation. Then, at the state track meet in Albuquerque, he broke the 4A (as well as overall) state record of 191’-7” with a 197’-3” in the preliminary round. He then turned around and crushed not only the state record but his own, personal record with a throw of 211’-10”, making him 2nd in the ENTIRE NATION!!

Manny has been personally invited to participate in the Nike National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon “Tracktown, USA” June 19-21, and they’ve even knocked down the price of his accommodations to make it easier for him to attend, but plane tickets and the cost of accommodations will still be expensive and he’s currently planning to go alone to make it easier for him to go. Let’s help Manny show the world what he can do!!
