Who we are:
Macondo is a Mixed Ultimate Frisbee team from Medellin, Colombia that will be competing in the World Ultimate Club Championship of 2018 this July in Cincinnati. Our team has 21 Colombians, 3 ex-pats, and 4 awesome American women who are fervently practicing their Spanish on Duolingo as to not be out of the loop. We train around 10 hours a week rain or shine. The team was founded in 2014 with one singular goal: qualify for the World Championship of 2018. After 4 years of blood sweat and tears, Macondo was able to secure a bid following an outstanding performance at the Colombian national championships.

Why do we need your support?
The average income in Colombia is less than $300 USD a month (less than 1/12th the average American salary). WUCC is expected to cost almost $2,500 per player.

Player fee: $400
Team fee: $80
Coaching fee: $50
Airfare: $800
Visa+fees: $300
Food/drink: $400 ($40/day for 10 days)
Transportation: $70
Lodging: $280 (10 nights/5 rooms @Super 8 Mason shared by 27 people)
Uniforms: $60
---
Total: $2,450
These costs have put an enormous financial strain on a number of our teammates. They have been trying to fundraise within Colombia since January, but they haven’t been able to raise nearly enough money. Any amount of money you can give will help us reach our goal and allow us to continue to grow within international ultimate community. Ultimate has taken Colombia by storm, and we feel privileged to be part of the movement pushing Ultimate forward.

Where your money goes:
100% of donations will go directly to the hotel costs for the team. Any money raised above our goal will go to subsidizing costs for Colombian-citizen players.

What are the World Ultimate Club Championships?
Held every 4 years, the World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC) is an opportunity for the best teams in the world to compete. The WFDF allocates multiple bids to each interested country based on their WFDF standing. This year, the tournament will be held in Cincinnati, USA.
