Send Love to the Colstons

Donation protected
Please join me in taking this opportunity to show love to a family who has shown love to so many of us. The Colstons are facing a particularly tough situation right now with two separate cancer diagnoses plus the loss of a job and possibly medical insurance hitting them all at once. Let's help alleviate some of the stress by helping them with the heavy financial burden loss of income and medical expenses can bring.

Most of you reading this will know how much the Colstons have invested in so many lives. I am just one of hundreds (if not thousands) of examples. Dave in particular was a mentor to me during a pivotal time in my teens and young adulthood with his One80 Student Ministries and HCLC classes and later through the Dwelling Place Church he started and the Navigators ministry he's currently involved in. He was crucial in my Christian faith journey, baptized me, performed my wedding ceremony, etc., etc., and he remains a great friend to this day.

This GoFundMe will help with some of the upfront expenses the Colstons will be incurring during this time, but you can also consider giving on a more permanent basis to his Navigators ministry. Reaching a certain level of monthly giving will qualify the Colstsons to receive the Navigators' health insurance, so please consider that on top of this campaign. That page with more information on the ministry plus donation info is found at https://www.navigators.org/staff/23760408/.

Here is a note from Dave further explaining their situation and asking for your prayers for him and his family during this time:

From Dave:

Several weeks ago I had a colonoscopy. The doctor found 2 polyps. He was able to remove one and because the other was more flat he only got a sample of it. They both came back benign. However, because the more flat polyp looked suspicious he wanted me to have another colonoscopy at the hospital where he had better tools. He was able to remove the whole polyp this time.

This past week the doctor called with the results of the removal of the 2nd polyp. I have a slow growing rare form of cancer in my colon. Needless to say I was rattled. How would I tell my girls…especially with what we are going through with my new son-in-law, Nathan. In case you didn’t know, Nathan had a lump removed from his neck the day after my second colonoscopy. To get to the point, on the day that I told Sandy and Brooke I had colon cancer is also the day we found out Nathan has Hodgkin Lymphoma. What I didn’t know was that Sandy was holding back from something that also happened to her that day as well. She was trying to protect us.

The company Sandy works for sold a few months back. On (Tuesday) the day I told Sandy and Brooke I had colon cancer and Nathan found out he had Hodgkin Lymphoma, Sandy was informed that her position was eliminated…and she carries our health insurance. She couldn’t tell me until the next day (this past Wednesday morning).

So I share this with you to ask you to PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR FAMILY. As we have been sharing this with others we are sensing the prayers of God’s people. We have had our moments over the last several days, but for the most part we are experiencing God’s peace. We are finding a tremendous amount of comfort in our Heavenly Fathers arms.

Nathan will find out his path of treatment July 9th and I will find out if my cancer is localized or if it has spread to other areas of my body early next week.

A final request, everything I have preached, taught, shared over a lunch, poured into young men or encouraged over the last 30 years of walking with Jesus…please pray that I will radically live it out! Especially at this ONE POINT in my life…may I live what I say I believe. I don’t want to muster it up or fake it, but live it out from the overflow of time with my Heavenly Father. Please also pray this for our family.
