Hi everyone, my name is Brandon "Lotto" Van Deusen, and this fall I have the honor of representing the United States as a member of Team USA at the World Beach Ultimate Championships in Algarve, Portugal.
This will be my first time playing on a national team and it is a goal I have been working toward for nearly a decade. I have been playing beach ultimate in Long Beach since 2015, and the ultimate community has shaped who I am both on and off the field. For years I worked to reach this level, including two previous cycles where I was not offered a tryout. In 2024, I finally earned a tryout and was selected to the Team USA Mixed Beach roster. Getting this opportunity has truly been a dream come true.
I am fundraising because athletes in the beach division of Team USA are self-funded. That means a majority costs associated with the season come directly out of pocket. My expenses include:
• 3 Travel Practice Weekends
• Flights to and from Portugal
• Housing and food during the tournament
• Team dues and tournament fees
My fundraising goal is 5,000 dollars, which will help make this opportunity possible.
Beach ultimate is where I fell in love with this sport. I am one of the founders and captain of SoCal Beach, a team that has since gone on to win three national championships. I have poured years into this community, helping build both the competitive and cultural side of the beach game here in Southern California, and now I have the chance to bring that passion to the world stage, representing not only Team USA but also the beach community that raised me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for supporting me in any way you can, whether through donating or sharing this page. Your support truly helps make this lifelong dream a reality.
