We’re Liv and Seb — proud parents to our daughter Sofia, who was born in May 2025. She’s our little miracle after a long and heartbreaking journey to becoming parents, after the loss of Theo and ongoing fertility issues due to previous medical complications.

When we found out Liv was pregnant again with Sofia, it felt like a blessing we’d barely dared to dream of, however the pregnancy was incredibly tough. Liv suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum and gestational hypertension, which later progressed into preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome.

These complications caused multiple strokes and severe liver injury, which has now developed into liver fibrosis.

Although the liver can regenerate, Liv’s scarring is unfortunately advancing too rapidly to allow the liver to repair. The only accessible treatment for liver disease in Australia is a transplant, if the liver is unable to repair itself. However, Liv has been granted a funded place in the regenerative medical program in Japan, which is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

While the treatment itself is funded, the travel, accommodation, and living costs aren’t, and we have only a few short weeks before treatment begins in mid-November.

Liv absolutely hates asking for help - she’s always been the one trying to support others. But this time, we’ve realised that being vulnerable is worth it if it means giving our family a future together, watching Sofia grow up, and living the life we’ve fought so hard for.

We also want to say how deeply grateful we are for everyone who has stood by us through everything we’ve been through over the past few years — your love, kindness, and support have carried us through some of the hardest times of our lives.
