OMG Y'ALL!!! I just got the news that I've been accepted into the Anaphora Arts (an organization that supports writers of color) 6-month program (Novel) Writing Bootcamp! And I get to work with Chris freaking Abani and Naomi freaking Jackson! Omggg!! Y'all don't even know what this means. (Well, for one, it means that the novel I started way back in 2004 actually is demanding to be written. Eeep! I thought it was just a little book only for me, but I'm seeing now that this story has other plans.)

It means that I get to work with incredible kick-ass literary authors who are also amazing teachers and mentors in their own right. (Did I say it was Chris Abani and Naomi Jackson?? If y'all don't know who they are, search 'em up! And then read all their books!)

It means that I get to write and develop this novel in a community of writers of color. Read that again: I get to write with other writers of color. Do y'all know how POWERFUL that is?? How amazing it feels when I don't have to explain shit? When you're in a room where people GET YOU?? Omg. POWER.FULL. (and yes, that's intentional)

It means I get meet folks in the publishing industry, like agents and editors, and really get support on that path to getting my book out in the world and into your hands (learning how to put a query together and pitch and all that).

I mean. I can't even believe it. "Excited" doesn't even cover it. "Thrilled"? Maybe that's better. I mean, I'm really thrilled.

So this is where you come in: I need your help in taking this step toward my dream come true.

I need to raise funds to cover the tuition. It's a 6-month program with some heavy-hitting mentors and incredible support & access to all the things!

My goal is $4,000, which would cover both tuition and the GFM fees.
