Send Late Milandu Silwebbe’s Body To Zambia

Donation protected
I Shyman Shaizo, come to you my dear family and friends with a broken heart to inform you of the passing of my dearest cousin Milandu Silwebbe on September 21, 2020 at the Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado after a short battle with lymphoma. Milandu, 37, was a beloved husband to his dear wife Catherine Schwab Silwebbe, son, brother, uncle and friend. As a family we are asking for your support in raising funds to aid in sending his body back to his home in Zambia, where his grief-stricken family and friends deserve the opportunity to say goodbye and where he can rest in peace.

A message from his wife Catherine, 33:

I met Milandu in Lusaka, Zambia 12 years ago while I was volunteering for a health education organization. From the day we met, we knew we would spend our lives together. As artists we dreamt of making the world brighter and building a bridge between our two countries. We were married seven years ago in Livingstone, Zambia.

Together, we opened Baza Ulye, a garden restaurant we painted with colorful murals, bringing friends and family together and creating employment opportunities for youth. We worked at the Livingstone Art Gallery during its inaugural year fulfilling a long held dream of creating a space for artists in nature. We were forced to spend long years apart but worked tirelessly to get Milandu a visa to the United States so we could always be together. We dreamt of returning to Zambia, raising children, starting new endeavors and leading a long and meaningful life. We were able to spend three wonderful years together in Colorado before his sudden illness.

My husband, Milandu, treated everyone he met with kindness. He was humble and caring. He found wisdom in learning and listening and his sweet and generous soul touched many lives in both the United States and Zambia. It is so important to me, his mother, his sisters and his brothers that his body be returned to his homeland to rest in peace.
