In December 2021, the Jump Rope Association of Kenya (JRAK) is looking forward to taking part in the National Double Dutch League 30th Annual Double Dutch Holiday Classic at the Apollo Theater in NYC. We are asking for your support in these areas:
1. Airfare for 8 participants
2. Registration fees for 8 participants
3. Meals for 8 participantsJRAK is a youth-based sports group which was established in early March 2010. JRAK aims to empower and transform the children within Kibera and the country at large through nurturing their talents, life skills and education. The sport aims to create employment opportunities for these youth as they take part in leadership skills training, and build the knowledge and capacity of young people to limit risk behaviors, enabling them to protect and promote their long-term health through our program jump rope for physical fitness.
Jump rope participation has been shown to benefit individuals by imparting socio-emotional processing skills (such as feelings of belonging, and conflict resolution) as well as supporting their physical and mental health.
We strongly believe that with the jump rope program, girls and young women are able to discover and nurture their jump rope skills, grow their self-esteem and also capitalize on their talents to not only compete but leverage opportunities around education, leadership and other essential social aspects of life.
Over the years we have given our boys and girls the opportunity to compete in the international jump rope championship, and their performance has been nothing short of amazing. They have won numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals and recently these talented young boys and girls brought home several trophies from the 2020 National Double Dutch League Holiday Classic.
