Send Kaylea to Europe in Kentucky Musicians Abroad

Hello, my name is Kaylea, and I was nominated for the Kentucky Musicians Abroad European Tour during the Summer of 2023. Music is my life, and being nominated to represent my State of Kentucky by singing in a choir to audiences across Europe is a dream come true. Being nominated alone is a tremendous honor! Taking this trip is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and it comes with great cost! I am asking my friends, family, loved ones, musicians, and supporters of the arts to consider making a donation towards my goal of going on this tour across Europe the summer after my senior year in high school, before I begin college.

 

I have had a passion for music since I was a child. As a toddler, I was always humming some type of tune. When I was four, I began singing the scale with my grandmother. In elementary school, my music teacher asked me to sing for Veterans Day in front of 800 guests. I said yes, and practiced every day. I sang in church while growing up. In 9th grade, I joined my high school choir and the Chamber Choir. I have auditioned and been selected for KY All-Festival several times and the KY All-State Choir twice. All of this to say, I couldn't have done it without the incredible support of my family, my grandparents, my choir director Ms. Elizabeth Edwards, Lindsey Blocker and Brittany Porter my former voice teachers, Beth and Jon Parker, Kristy Bay and so many others who have encouraged me along the way.  I am so grateful for the opportunities I have been given.

 

This trip is an incredible opportunity to increase my musical abilities, gain cross-cultural experiences, make friends and see the world. We will spend a week on campus at the University of Louisville in all-day rehearsals and then head to London, England. We will visit London, Paris, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Amsterdam and more. While there, we will be performing inside historic cathedrals and in outdoor venues.

I am so excited, but need YOUR help! The money raised will cover the cost of the trip (airfare, lodging, two meals per day, and the week long camp before we go). I will also be working over the summer part-time to cover additional costs, fees, and spending cash.
