UPDATE on 7/12/25: Fargo starts this weekend!!! I increased our fundraising goal to cover some last-minute expenses related to his prep and training. So grateful for all the support!

**************
Kai has spent 12 years preparing for his dream to compete at National Freestyle and Greco-Roman Championships held annually in Fargo, North Dakota— the biggest wrestling tournament the world. He just qualified for it at the State Tournament, now, he needs help getting there!

Lifetime Dedication
Kai started wrestling when he was just 5 years old, back when we didnt think he’d have any chance of doing any sport competitively due to health complications from a genetic metabolic bone disorder. But upon finding out wrestling tournaments were in front of an audience, Kai’s eyes lit up as he said, “Oh, wrestling...for the people?!” From that moment on, he was hooked.

Over the past 12 years, Kai has poured everything into this sport with unwavering passion, even while facing the pain and challenges of his condition. He’s grown into a highly respected competitor and person, on and off the mat.

Kai’s biggest dream has always been to qualify for the Fargo National Championships in North Dakota — the largest and most prestigious wrestling tournament of any kind in the world.

And this year, he did it!

At the Texas State Championship this month, Kai qualified in *both* Freestyle and Greco-Roman styles, all while simultaneously working 12+ hour days as a tournament referee, which virtually no competitor ever wants to do, let alone one who has to deal with bone pain issues as he does. That’s the kind of grit and drive which has defined him and gotten him this chance!

More About Kai
In recent years, Kai has also become a highly regarded referee, using his earnings to fund his own training and tournaments — and even help contribute to his family. All the while, he’s been taking college classes full-time, teaching at Read Play Love, performing in musicals, coaching and mentoring young wrestlers, while indulging his passion for fishing and cooking for his friends and family.
