Hello, my name is Judah Weesner.
I have been running for five years, and I am a member of the High Point Blaze track team. In 2021 I began competing in the AAU Junior Olympic Games, and now that I have graduated high school, this will be my final year as a Junior Olympian.
This year I have been particularly focused and disciplined about my training, averaging over 50 miles per week. I am working hard and doing everything I can to perform my best at this year's Junior Olympics. This fall I will move on to compete at the Division I college level for the UNCG Spartans.
To qualify for an event at Junior Olympics you have to place at least 6th or above at your state's qualifying meet. At last week's regional qualifiers, I placed first in the state of North Carolina in the 3000-meter race, and I placed fifth in the 1500-meter. This means I have advanced to the 2023 Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to the 3000-meter and 1500-meter, I will be competing in the 2000-meter Steeplechase.
My costs will be:
$997 rental car
$450 gas
$1,019 lodging (8 nights)
$51 meet fee
$2,517 TOTAL
Last year we incurred no costs because the event was held at NC A&T in Greensboro, NC. This year will be a big trip and celebrates my final year in high school athletics as I move on to collegiate competition. I am sincerely grateful for any contributions to show your support for me in this endeavor.
