We at Courage Muay Thai are fundraising for our athlete Josh Norris to get to the World Championships in Verona, Italy this coming June. We are trying to raise enough to cover flights, accommodation, airport transport and registration fees (which includes a Team Ireland tracksuit). Alex will travelling with Josh as his coach also. To ensure the opportunity was not missed, we have already footed most of the bill (flights and registration). Between it all we will need €1750 total to cover all costs.
Muay Thai is not a government funded sport and there are no sports grants available to us, so we always have to rely on our community to help us reach goals such as this. Josh deserves this chance more than anybody, not just in our club, but in the country.
The level at these championships will be elite and we believe Josh is that level so this will be an amazing chance to test himself vs world calibre opposition.
Josh has just turned 18 and will be competing in the Adult B Class Division.
He is not just going to say he went and to make up the numbers. We all fully believe in his abilities to get a podium finish and take a medal home for himself, Courage and Ireland.
Josh has had a stellar amateur career. He started training with us 6 years ago when he was 12 and had a handful of Junior fights with mixed results. Since turning 15 he has had 12 fights with an amazing record of 11 wins with 1 loss.
He is currently on a 9 fight win streak with 7 of those coming by way of KO. Josh is the two time Sandee Open Junior Irish Champion. Both years he had 2 fights on the same day and won both by way of KO, both years. His most recent fight was his Pro Debut and once again won via first round KO.
He has always worked so hard in the gym and is a shining example to all other young students of how to carry yourself both in and outside the ring. The standard is set very high by Josh.
Currently he is balancing a full time job in a factory, working day and night shifts while still getting his training in every day without fail.
Any little bit you can donate to help him on his way would be greatly appreciated!
