Hello, my name is Joel Edwards Jr. I’ve been selected to sing Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos with Berlin Opera Academy. In order to cover my airfare and living expenses for the 6 weeks, I would need $6,500! I was awarded a generous talent based scholarship covering $2,500, but I need your help to cover the rest of my tuition and get me to Berlin, and do an audition tour afterwards.

I am a Boston based tenor and bartender/cocktail server at Yvonne’s when not on stage. I sing regularly as a soloist and company member with reputable New England opera companies such as Boston Lyric Opera, Odyssey Opera(Grammy nominated for my recordings of X: Life and Times of Malcolm X, Anthony Davis(Composer), Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, Opera del West, and Connecticut Lyric Opera to name a few. I have a masters degree in opera performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College.

As I’m transitioning to more dramatic repertoire and making a mark in heldentenor repertory, it is imperative that I travel to Berlin and sing this staple role in my rep while making the necessary connections I need to start an international career. Any help from you is greatly appreciated!
