Howdy!
My name is Charles Chessler and I'm a NYC-based photographer.
I met Jacob about 7 years ago through Opening Act, a great organization that brings theatre to underserved public schools around the city. After doing headshots for their summer students 6 years ago I had the opportunity to talk to the students about the creative life and my lifelong journey towards finally, at 57 years old, making a full-time living doing something I love.
After the talk, Jacob, who was also interested in photography, asked me if I did any mentoring.
I didn't. But, then I did.
That was the beginning of a truly wonderful relationship and through these years Jacob has become like a son to me.
Flash forward to a few months ago when Jacob auditioned for the prestigious Atlantic Acting School here in NYC. He was accepted the next day without a callback.
I'm here to tell you that Jacob is a very talented young man who has been doing "the work" diligently all these years, whether it be for acting, writing or photography. He has something special, for sure. The folks at Atlantic Acting School certainly saw it. So have other folks who are "on his team". That something special, combined with his talent and passion for "doing the work" is a great combination and deserves to be nurtured and supported. A win for Jacob is a win for all of us.
School, of course, costs money. Jacob's tuition for Atlantic Acting School this year is $16,500. The GoFundMe fees bring the amount up to $16,995. If I had it I'd pay it in a heartbeat. But I don't. So, here I am reaching out and needing all of you.
I truly believe in the power of community and I'd love for you to join me in supporting Jacob so that he doesn't have the stress of tuition debt and can concentrate on this wonderful opportunity. He'll also be working while attending school, but that money will pretty much cover things like transportation and food, etc.
So, waddya say?!
No amount is too small. Everything helps alleviate that accumulation of debt.
I do have a fantasy, though, of 17 folks just ponying up a grand a piece and we'd be done.
And, you could keep it anonymous, too. Nobody needs to know.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you'll join us. Feel free to hit me up with any questions you might have!
Cheers,
