In early April, 15 students from the Precision Manufacturing & Engineering classes at South Elgin and Steamwood High Schools competed in the 55th SkillsUSA in Springfield, IL.
Three students from South Elgin came out on top with first-place wins in the CNC Turning, CNC Technician and CNC Milling categories. Two from Streamwood took first place in Additive Manufacturing.
Those top five students qualified to participate in the SkillsUSA National Competition in Louisville, KY, June 24-28, 2019. But they can only do so if they can raise funds for registration, hotel rooms and transportation.
We hope district U-46 alumni, residents of South Elgin, Bartlett, West Chicago and Streamwood, and our friends in manufacturing will support these talented kids and our future workforce!
The students will be accompanied at SkillsUSA National by their high school instructors, Russell Bartz and Matt Erbach. All funds will go directly to the instructors to cover costs for the kids attending the competition, plus one parent chaperone.
Follow Mr Bartz and Mr Erbach and their talented students on their Twitter feeds, @BartzTeacher and @PrecisionSabre.
