Hi! I’m Hunter Stutz, a fourth-year medical student with a deep passion for wilderness medicine and rural healthcare. This spring, I have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to complete a medical elective to Everest Base Camp, working alongside physicians through a program called Wild Med Adventures.
We’ll trek through the Himalayas to reach Everest ER, a seasonal clinic that provides emergency medical care to trekkers, climbers, and local communities. Along the way, I’ll participate in hands-on training and lectures focused on wilderness and remote medicine—skills I plan to use throughout my career serving underserved and rural populations.
Why This Rotation Matters
This isn’t just an adventure—it’s the culmination of years of work.
- I’ve served as president of our Wilderness Medicine Club, where I helped create an accessible Advanced Wilderness Life Support course for fellow students.
- I helped lead a free medical clinic in rural Idaho with Remote Area Medical, coordinating logistics, volunteers, and outreach.
- And in high school, I turned a personal goal of climbing Mt. Rainier into a fundraiser that raised over $12,000 to support a local child in need of medical care.
Now, I’m ready to bring that same purpose, passion, and drive to the Himalayas—combining my love of the mountains with my commitment to meaningful medicine.
How You Can Help
To make this rotation possible, I’m aiming to raise $8,000 to cover:
- Program fees
- International flights
- Trekking gear and travel costs
- Insurance and required documentation
Any donation, no matter the size, brings me closer to this dream. If you’re not in a position to give, sharing this page would mean just as much.
Thank you for supporting my journey—and helping me become the best doctor I can be.
With gratitude,
Hunter Stutz
