Send Harvard Horntails to Nationals!!
Donation protected
Hi! We are Harvard’s real life Quidditch club team, the Harvard Horntails, and we need your help. Quidditch is a mixed gender sport, so our team consists of people from all identities and backgrounds, and it is full-contact, drawing similarities to sports like basketball, rugby, dodgeball, and wrestling. If you live on campus, you might have seen us practicing with our hoops and brooms in JFK Park or near the Harvard Stadium. And if not, maybe you heard about us on Wheel of Fortune. Or maybe this is your first time learning about college Quidditch altogether. Either way, thank you for clicking on this fundraiser!
The Harvard Horntails have been invited to this year’s US Quidditch national tournament in Salt Lake City, to take place April 23-24. This will be our first Nationals since the spring of 2019. We’ve spent months training for this opportunity and are currently one of the country’s most competitive college Quidditch teams. At the time of writing this, the Harvard Horntails are ranked 8th out of 53 college teams nationally, and 1st in the Northeast, which includes local teams from schools like Tufts, Brown, and Boston University.
We could not be more excited to attend and put to the test all of the hard work our team has put into the sport this semester. But currently, we do not have enough money to fund lodging, travel, and tournament fees. Specifically, every donation will help pay for the following expenses for our 16-player team: hotel rooms, plane tickets, rental cars, and tournament registration. Combined, we estimate a $9000 cost. We appreciate all donations of all amounts, even if it’s only $1! And, if you can’t donate at this time, spread the word to friends, family, clubs, and other groups. That’s more than enough, and we cannot overstate our gratitude.
If you want to learn more about Harvard Quidditch before donating (or just for fun, which we highly encourage), you can check us out on Instagram @harvardquidditchclub or our official website, harvardquidditchclub.com. You can also find official footage of our games on the
Massachusetts Quidditch Conference YouTube channel: here . We hope you check us out and please feel free to contact us with any questions! Thank you so much for your support.
EDIT: Thank you all so incredibly much for all of your support!! We have to raise our goal due to the fuel shortage raising the cost of plane tickets, but you all have been so unbelievably generous!
