The Great Golden Gryphons (G3) Robotics Team at Honors Academy of Literature has been selected to represent Nevada at the 2026 Governor’s Cup in Washington, D.C. this February. This prestigious national event highlights robotics teams that demonstrate exceptional engineering skills, innovation, and community impact. Despite being one of the few middle school-only teams competing against high school teams across Nevada, G3 consistently excels through determination, innovation, and teamwork. Their achievements, combined with their extensive outreach efforts, earned them the honor of representing Nevada on a national stage.
G3 distinguishes itself through its inclusive, student-centered approach. The team welcomes learners with diverse strengths, interests, and needs, ensuring every member plays an important role in engineering, programming, design, or public relations. This structure fosters leadership, collaboration, and creativity—skills that support students far beyond the competition field.
As a small public charter school, participating in the Governor’s Cup presents significant financial challenges. Flying the team to Washington, D.C., securing lodging, and covering meals, buying robotic equiptment and uniforms requires substantial fundraising, and G3 is actively seeking community sponsors and donors to ensure every member can take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Many of our students have never traveled out of the Reno area or flown on a plane. Your support will help make this dream a reality and give these students an experience they will never forget.
