Finley Tanner is a 15 year old skier from Seattle, Washington. She recently qualified for the 2022 Freeride Junior World Championships in Kappl, Austria in early 2022. We are asking for your support to allow Finley the opportunity to compete on the world stage, one of only six athletes in her event and age group (Ski Female, 15-18) that qualified from the United States.

 

Finley's ski career started with Powder Pigs on Friday nights at Snoqualmie Pass, progressed to ski racing for CMAC and years ago, she joined the Crystal Freeride Team as soon as she was old enough. Now competing for Northwest Freeride, Finley has won her last four competitions. Last season, as a newly minted 15 year old (by two weeks), she took home 1st place for 15-18 Female Skiers in the 2021 Crystal Mountain Vol. 3 IFSA Junior Regional 2*, 2021 Alpental IFSA Junior Regional 2*, and the 2021 Crystal Mountain Vol. 1 IFSA Junior Regional 2*. The year prior, she took 1st in the 2020 Crystal Mountain IFSA Junior National on March 13, 2020, the day the world shut down. Finley finished the 2020-2021 season ranked #2 in the Pacific Northwest and #5 in the USA in the 15-18 age group. The #1 ranked PNW athlete has aged out so Finley is now in the #1 spot.

 

In addition to being a competitive skier, Finley is an honors sophomore student at Roosevelt High School, plays soccer for Roosevelt, OL Reign Academy, and WA PSPL Surf Academy.

 

To prepare for the World Championships, Finley plans to train with coaches ahead of time, including dry-land training, on mountain time, and strategizing. We plan to travel to Europe at least a week early so she can acclimate and ski the terrain. Finley's coach, Sammy Hall, from NW Freeride, will join us on the trip as it's required to have a certified coach present to compete. Athletes must pay for the coach's expenses (travel, food, accommodations, lift tickets, etc.). Funds raised in this campaign will be used exclusively for this trip including travel, accommodations, meals, lift tickets to prepare for the competition, training to prepare, required safety gear, etc. Our first goal is to cover the coach expenses. Sammy has helped Finley win the last four competitions she's participated in with NW Freeride (along with her other coaches, Wayne Grevey and Treylin Steel).
