Hey everyone! I’m Felix Bergeron, I’m 17, and weightlifting has been my passion ever since I tagged along to some CrossFit classes with my mom at age 13. While everyone else warmed up for burpees and rowing, I discovered the one thing I truly loved: lifting heavy weights! Seeing my excitement, my mom connected me with former Olympian and head coach of the Vikings Weightlifting Club in Kelowna, British Columbia, Guy Greavette, whose own Olympic experience and track record of guiding athletes to international events has pushed me to new heights.
Over the last four years, I’ve trained up to five days a week, sometimes two to three hours a day, pushing myself through snatches, clean & jerks, and endless squats. I’ve grown not just stronger but more determined, competing at local, provincial, and national meets. In March 2025, I earned first place in the Youth 81 kg category at the BC Provincial Championships. Just this June, I hit a 250 kg total (snatch + clean & jerk) to place second in the Junior Canadian Nationals at 88 kg, enough to qualify for the 2025 Youth Commonwealth Championships in Ahmedabad, India (August 24-30)!
This is a dream come true: my first international competition. But travel, flights, and accommodations add up to about $5,000, an impossible sum for this broke student. That’s why I’m asking for your help. Any contribution, big or small, will get me one step closer to representing Canada on the world stage. Your support means the world, and I promise to keep you posted on every lift, every medal, and every moment of this journey. Thank you for believing in me!
