The kids of Durham City Allstars Venom were delighted to receive the news that they won an At-Large Bid to The Summit at Disney World, Florida in April 2023. For those of you who do not do cheerleading, The Summit is the equivalent of the world championships for those who compete below level 5. Our under-16 level 3 co-ed team has long dreamed of being able to attend such a prestigious event.

Unfortunately, this dream comes at a high cost, with each athlete and their families having just over a month to raise money for flights from the UK to Florida, hotel costs, competition entry fees as well as other costs such as meals and transport when they get there. Our team has previously earned the chance to go twice before, however, due to COVID restrictions, we have not had the opportunity to actually compete in Florida. This is the last year that this team get the chance to go before many of the kids who have worked so hard to achieve a bid age out of their category.

Not only would this event fulfil their life-long dream but it is also an important step in building life skills for each of the young athletes including team-working skills, dedication, perseverance, independence and teaching the kids to always believe in themselves. We would appreciate any donations, no matter how small, to help this group of kids from the North East of England, some of whom have been training for almost 10 years, have the chance to compete to earn an international title in Florida.
