Deondrae has worked extremely hard for many years to get to where he is today. He has worked towards becoming the true definition of a Student-Athlete, excelling both on the court and in the classroom. He has been consistently on the honor roll, and he has received national accolades for his basketball skills. This has led to an acceptance to several prep-level high schools in 2020, but funding for those opportunities fell through due to the pandemic, and he remained local.

 

That has all changed this year. The Boy's Latin School of Maryland, a school in the top basketball conference in Maryland, with an engineering and robotics team ranked 4th in the world, has sought out Deondrae to attend their school. We accepted their offer to visit and learned of the amazing opportunities this school could afford Deondrae. He obviously loves basketball, but did you know that he has a desire to pursue engineering as a career? That he is a whiz in math and could contribute to this robotics team as much as the basketball team? The Boy's Latin School of Maryland consistently sends students to the Ivy League and/or Division 1 and Division 2 for academics and athletics, either of which would be a dream come true for Deondrae. The school and staff believe he has what it takes to get there, and so do we. So we went out on a limb and applied.

 

Not only was Deondrae accepted to this school, he was awarded a scholarship amounting to 92% of the cost of tuition and fees - one of the largest given in the school's history. As you can imagine, the cost of the school is more than the price of some colleges, so even with the scholarship, we are still left with a considerable amount to cover if he hopes to attend.
