My name is Colleen Kennedy, and I am a political operative, activist, and policy researcher currently residing in Philadelphia.
For most of my life, I have been fighting for the rights of students in the Upper Darby School District, right outside of West Philadelphia. I have learned from my own experiences as a public school student what power a cumulative, culturally representative public school education can have on a young person's life.
Thanks to so many of my fellow activists, neighbors, friends, and family, we have been able to accomplish real social justice victories for the vulnerable, including the restoration of funding to Upper Darby School District's art, music, physical education, library, technology, and foreign language programs in 2012, movement toward co-sponsorships of LGBT non-discrimination from local state legislators, transparency of public records and meetings throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, and real reforms to create protections of women from sexual abuse in their campaign jobs and in the state legislature. As proud as I am of these accomplishments, there is so much more work to do.
I hope to learn as much as possible at the Women's Campaign School at Yale University, a program of which I was recently accepted, but I need your help!
Our very first assignment is to raise the funds necessary to go to the program, and the tuition alone costs $1800. In addition, I need to cover my accommodations and travel. Will you help me?
Please donate generously and share this page. I need the help of your networks to quickly raise these funds!
