Send Chef Blake to Recteq Academy 2021

To my Recteq Family, friends of DoxieGuy BBQ, my personal friends, and family let's make this a reality for young Chef Blake and give him the experience of a lifetime at Recteq Academy!!!

Blake has a big story of defying all odds. In short, Blake has an undiagnosed neuromuscular condition, his family has traveled across the US looking for a diagnosis with no answer. 3 years ago they were accepted to a federally funded program the “Undiagnosed Disease Network” there they met with doctors from several different countries and still Blake remains undiagnosed.

None of the daily issues Blake is faced with ever slow him down.  He is still very much a thriving 11 year old boy minus his medical accessories.  He loves cooking and hockey.   Blake is starting Middle School this year and attends class with his peers.

I have been following this child on social media for a few months and found him, his story, and his family so inspiring.  I have been a part of the Recteq family for quite sometime and found Blake via the #recteqlifesyle and the #recteqfamily.  When I think about living the #recteqlifestyle I usually think first to Blake and his passion as a young chef and grillmaster.

If you know anything about Recteq what you know is that it is a family community of like minded people who love the art of the grill and cooking.  The company and staff is amazing and has become a big part of my life.

I was sitting working in my office one day and thought about how cool it would be if Blake could attend the Recteq Academy with his dad.  For him to have the experience of being side by side with his dad and learning from some of the best pitmasters in the world for three days would be an experience of a lifetime for him.  The cost for Blake and his father is somewhat prohibitive I am sure as the cost of attending is $1200 per person plus travel.

BUT..........what if I could help, how could I help make this happen.  I wish I had the means to write a check and make it happen but at current I just can't do it all.  But what I can do is share his story and start a crowdfunding campaign and share Blake's story with my #recteqfamily, friends, family, neighbors, and the world.  How easy it would be to make this happen, I think?  I reached out privately to Blake's father and spoke to him briefly about the possibility of this happening and as I expected he was super excited for Blake to have this opportunity but it wasn't inline financially for them to pull it off.  I asked Blake's father if it would be ok for me to try to figure out a way to raise money for him and Blake to attend.  He was excited and agreed to let me tackle it and try to give this opportunity to Blake.

The fundraising goal is set at $5000.  I have made some estimates of expenses they would incur to make the trip and hopefully left some money on the table that will be used to make purchases in the Recteq exclusive Academy store while they are there.  Looking at current flight models for April the tickets will be about $600 each.  The cost of Academy is $1200 each.  I also figured in a few hundred dollars for hotel expenses and tried to leave some allowance for additional travel expenses that may be needed for Blake's medical equipment etc.
