Local McKinleyville California BMX rider Chance Hertel started riding BMX at 5 yrs. old, showing a strong passion for the sport, a natural drive to compete and a unique riding style all of his own. Chance rushed onto the BMX racing scene in 2015, making Expert class by 6 years of age, a preluding testament to his future talent and skills. In BMX it has been important for our family to create community, whether training or competing to help fuel a fundamental and strong belief in the sportsmanship of the game. BMX brings to our family the joy it brings to many BMX families across the globe- a tradition of health, community and a vision of the Olympic Dream.
This year Chance has earned his place among America's Top 20 National 13-year-old BMX riders. His earned titles boast as two-time consecutive Northern California #1 State Champion (2022, 2021), #2 SW Gold Cup Champion (2022) & #2 NW Gold Cup Champion (2021), and #20 N.A.G rider (2022). Current standings have Chance ranked #1 in his National Age Group (N.A.G) where he hopes to remain throughout the 2023 USABMX National racing season. Chance also secured himself a qualifying spot for the UCI World Cycling Championships representing Team USA in Glasgow, Scotland and is now focused on preparing for this upcoming event in August 2023.

We need your help to send this small-town Northern California BMX rider to Glasgow, Scotland where he will represent Team USA at the 2023 UCI World Cycling Championships. This is a major event in Chances' BMX career and your contribution can help make his dream a reality! Any funds raised will go towards his traveling expenses including flights, hotels, taxis, licensing/registration fees, insurance, team uniforms and much more. These expenses add up quickly and we need your help to get him there by relieving a portion of the overall cost. Any generosity goes a long way in helping this small family reach their goal. Please consider donating to this talented young man as your donation directly helps Chance in reaching his goal of going to Scotland for Team USA this year!
