Send Cara and Anna to Nationals!

Cara and Anna have qualified to compete at the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) National Tournament in Phoenix, AZ from June 11-17. This will be the second year in a row Lakeridge has sent two amazing young women to represent their school and state at this national tournament!

Cara and Anna are honored and excited about this opportunity, especially as they just wrapped up the regular speech and debate season, culminating with Lakeridge winning 3rd place in the 6A division at the OSAA state championship tournament. Anna placed 6th in Congressional Debate at this tournament, and has previously participated in Lincoln Douglas debate and Poetry Reading. Cara placed 2nd in Parliamentary Debate, 6th in Extemeraneous Speaking, and 7th in Poetry Reading at the state championship. These girls, both juniors at Lakeridge, have worked so hard for the past three years in this activity. We need $3,000 to cover hotel, transportation, and other related costs to attend the national tournament.

Anna and Cara are not only amazing competitors in speech and debate, they are also invaluable leaders on our team. Anna has been supporting the Lakeridge Junior High speech and debate team through coaching and tournament support for the last two years. Cara has been organizing team bonding activities for her team and led many knowledge briefings for her debate teammates. These two are exemplars in school and speech and debate, and will do amazing at the national speech and debate tournament. Thank you for supporting these students!
