Five rising sophomores from Camden Prep High School have earned an incredible opportunity:

FULL $7,000 Scholarships to attend the Young Leaders for Peace (YLP) summer program at the UPEACE Headquarters in San Jose, Costa Rica.

These students stood out through a rigorous application process, submitting resumes, personal statements, and videos that showcased their academic excellence and leadership. As top students and role models on our campus, they are dedicated to making a positive impact in Camden City, NJ.

The YLP program is designed to empower high school students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become effective peacebuilders. Over two weeks, participants will explore peace and leadership, engage in hands-on learning, and connect with Costa Rica’s natural environment. From courses on nonviolent communication and conflict resolution to environmental stewardship excursions and sustainable agriculture workshops, this immersive experience will help them grow as leaders and advocates for positive change.

While the students have earned full scholarships for the program itself, their families still face significant costs for airfare, travel essentials, and documentation like passports and insurance. Donations to this fundraiser will go directly to supporting these expenses, ensuring that all five students can take part in this life-changing journey.
