The Brooklyn Ascend chess program is raising funds so our students from Brownsville, one of NYC’s most underserved communities, can compete in the NY Metro Area Scholastic Championships on January 3–4, 2026 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Our kids have worked incredibly hard and are eager for this opportunity, but costs like entry fees, transportation, coaching, and team space put this event out of reach for many families.
Chess has become a powerful part of our students’ education, building confidence, focus, and resilience. Every week, our students dedicate hours to learning strategies, practicing with teammates, and supporting one another. For many, chess is more than a game: it’s a way to build friendships, develop critical thinking, and find pride in their achievements. With your help, we can ensure that every child who wants to compete can represent their school and community on a major stage without financial barriers. Your support will help cover the essential costs so that no student is left behind due to financial hardship.
Thank you so much for supporting our kids. Every donation, no matter the size, helps give them a chance to shine.
