Thank you for even taking the time to click on this link and consider donating to this cause. Asking for financial help is something that does not come easily for me. I have strived to always support myself and try to give to others when I have extra to give.
When I was 19 I came out of the closet. This was difficult for me but one of the things that made it ok was my faith. My belief that we are all created in a higher image and thus we are all perfect the way we are. I knew I wanted to share that message with others but didn't know how. I didn't think I was the right person, that I didn't have the authority to talk of such things, I definitely didn't have all the answers and so I decided it was not my path.
Over the last 18 years that flame has never gone out. Nothing I did could quiet the calling within me and so, I finally decided to do something about it. Like that child's song goes, hide it under a bushel no! I'm going to let it shine! I applied to seminary and have been accepted. I did not know how I would pay for it, I still do not.
My hope is not to put my family in debt while I follow my dream and so I turn to you, my community, my family, my friends. I ask if you are willing to give so that I may follow my dream and become a minister of the Unitarian Universalist faith.
As a minister my goal is to help create bonds across religious lines, to create dialogue of acceptance on an interdenominational level. I want to serve my people, the LGBTQ+ community in the ways they need to feel closer to a higher spirit and to help resolve any pain or hurt they have experienced from past religious experiences. You donating will help me learn the skills to fulfill this goal.
It will cost approximately $60,000 in total for this program but again, I am looking to other sources where I can to help make that total. Every dollar donated will go towards this education and if I make more than I need or there are funds left over when I am done, I will donate them to a local charity that serves my LGBTQ+ family.
If you know me, you know I am someone of conviction and passion. That I will stand for those that have no voice or are too scared to say anything. That I'm not afraid to shake things up in the name of the righteous and true. Let me serve you in an even larger capacity.
