The Avalon School Academic Decathlon (AD) team is preparing for the 2026 USAD National Tournament in Walnut Grove, California this April! Our team of 11 dedicated decathletes and their coaches have worked tirelessly all year, and we are launching our fundraiser early to ensure that every team member will be able to attend. Over the past 8 years, Avalon has qualified for Nationals each year, winning the State Championship in 7 of those years, and we are determined to keep that tradition of excellence going strong.
The United States Academic Decathlon is a rigorous competition that challenges students across seven academic subjects: Art, Music, Literature, Science, Economics, Math, and Social Science. This year’s theme is The Roaring Twenties, and our decathletes have been preparing for months, mastering content and building skills. In addition to the academic events, the competition includes a timed essay, a 7-minute interview to prepare students for future opportunities, a 4-minute prepared speech, and a 2-minute impromptu speech. Last year, our team placed 2nd at Nationals in Division V and won the Super Quiz for the first time—a testament to their hard work and determination.
Your generosity will help cover the essential costs of travel and lodging, ensuring that our team can compete at Nationals and continue building on their successes. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal. Thank you for supporting the Avalon School Academic Decathlon team and helping our students achieve their dreams!
