Send Auggie to Japan

To those of you who know Auggie, you know that he is a generous and gregarious spirit who would never ask for anything on his own behalf.  Being a Japanese-American born in 1943 put Auggie in an interesting position of minimizing his Japanese heritage and in doing so not visiting relatives across the Pacific and not learning the language of his parents.  When the war was behind him and the opportunity to travel to the land of his ancestors arose, the shadow of shame for not speaking the language prevented him from doing so.  Now, at the age of 75, he has a new-found desire to experience the country of his heritage.  My sister and I want to make it happen for him, but we need help.  With the help of family and friends, I have faith that we can send my dad, Auggie, to Japan.

We are hoping to send him over the winter break which is when my nephew, who is teaching in Japan, will be able to accompany him on his adventure and speak Japanese on his behalf.  We are asking for funds to pay for airfare, accommodations and travel when he gets there so he can visit the places he has only read about in family history.

Any contribution you can make to this cause is so incredibly appreciated.  If you know of anyone who may want to send Auggie to Japan, please forward this campaign on to them, as this is definitely a cause that will take a village to come to fruition.  I promise to upload pictures of the grand adventure when it happens although I cannot promise high quality photos (he is not a great phone photographer).  Thank you so much for any donation you are able to make!
