Send Atara to Seminary

My name is Atara Pietruszka and I am a senior at Bruriah High School, in Elizabeth, NJ.  I have spent my high school years growing in my academic skills and learning about myself.  In school, I have been the head of a special committee called WINS.   WINS hosts Motzaei Shabbos Melave Malkas for Bruriah girls in which they enjoy an inspirational speaker and a chesed activity.  Through this program, I  developed my leadership skills.   I use my free time to work at Friendship Circle, an organization that works with the special needs population.  I also participate in a Friends at Home program which gives families a respite throughout the week.  I plan to spend this summer working in Camp HASC, a 7-week sleep-away camp for children and adults with special needs, providing them with a unique summer experience tailored to each of their abilities. 

Next year, I have the great opportunity of using my gap year to learn and grow in my commitment to Judaism and grow as a Bas Torah in Darchei Bina Seminary, in Yerushalayim.  As many girls do, I will be using this year to develop my strengths as an individual and explore my talents of how I can contribute to Klal Yisrael and the world at large.  I chose Darchei Bina for their serious learning program, committed and chesed oriented student body, and a warm and experienced staff.
