Willows Tennis Family… we need your help!

As Anita and Gary Barros step into retirement, we want to celebrate all they did as caretakers and friends to everyone who passed through the doors of the Willows.

Their life long dream has always been to attend the French Open, and we need your help to make it happen! We’re hoping to be able to cover the cost of their flights, lodging, and of course, a week’s worth of tickets to see all the best tennis matches.

If Anita and Gary have made an impact on your lives over the course of their 30+ years… whether it was a congratulations after you played a winning match, a sad nod of how tough it can be to lose, or even just a top-notch racquet or string recommendation… please consider donating to help make this dream a reality! In honor of the sport that brought us all together, we’re recommending donations of $15, $30 or $40, and of course, more if possible.

We’d love to give Gary and Anita the best send off before they retire next week, so any amount you can contribute before then is much appreciated :)

Gary’s tenure extended 32 years where he managed the facility, laid down the annual clay tennis courts, strung rackets, provided the interface for the men’s and women’s leagues and kept the place running. As a side note, after many years of mystery and speculation it can now be revealed that the man inside the Sponge Bob suit was Gary all along!!!

Anita’s work at the Willows spanned 20 years of dedication where she was truly the face of the Willows. Anyone who passed through the doorway to sit at the watching areas or headed to the courts to play, interfaced with this wonderful, caring and funny woman. Anita was the first to ask how it went on the courts, give you a playful ribbing if you didn’t play well or stand by you for any complaining you might have about the other team.

Both Anita and Gary made an indelible mark at the Willows for all who were lucky enough to play in the different leagues, take lessons from one of the talented pros, watch their children grow up playing tennis under their watchful eyes or simply go for a recreational hour or two of playing.
