Send Andy to the Commonwealth Championships, South Africa

Hi, I'm Andy and I have been selected to represent my country in Powerlifting at the 2024 Commonwealth Championships held in Sun City, South Africa between October 4-13. I’m fortunate enough to have been selected to compete in two disciplines: the Equipped Open (October 4) and Classic Open (October 10), with the closing ceremony taking place the 13th.

I have been training 30+ hours per week for the past two years with one goal in mind: being able to compete on the international platform. After recently competing at my national championships in April 2024, I am extremely grateful to have been presented with just that opportunity.

Unfortunately, as the British Powerlifting federation is yet to receive direct government funding from Sport England / Wales, athletes are required to cover their own expenses—which includes everything from anti-doping fees to flights and accommodation.

It is an honour to have been selected to represent my country and I would greatly appreciate any form of contribution (be it financial or simply sharing this post). The total for flights and accommodation alone comes in at just north of £3,000 (this is before the cost of food, kit and other miscellaneous expenses).
