Send Abby to Study and Share Galapagos Wonders
Donation protected
My name is Abby Steele, and I am trying to raise funds for a unique opportunity that I've been afforded. I am a high school science teacher who teaches Environmental Science and Biology to 9th and 10th grade students. In June 2026, the Spanish department of the school I work for will be traveling with some select students to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.
As the school's Environmental Science and Biology teacher, this is an opportunity I can't miss out on. Traveling to the Galapagos Islands has been on my professional and personal bucket list for my entire life. The unique opportunity to study where Charles Darwin studied, to see interactions between organisms in a near-pure environment... the learning opportunities are endless.
Then, I would be able to bring back all I studied and learned to my students, so they could share in part of my experience, and I could better teach them lessons about the environment, climate change, and evolution, among many other topics. I also feel that not having a science teacher along does a disservice to the students going on the trip.
Currently, all the chaperone spots are full, but I was assured that if I was able to come up with the funds, that I would be allowed to travel with the group. However, I am living solely off my teacher salary. I come to you to ask that you consider donating so I can travel for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see and study the Galapagos Islands before they are gone forever.
Thank you!
