The Canadian Society of Ecology and Evolution’s Equity Fund helps to send graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to the CSEE’s annual conference. Unfortunately, in these difficult times the needs are greater than our resources and we do not have sufficient funds to meet the high demand. This is why we are asking for your help to send a graduate student or postdoc to the annual meeting. For some grad students this is their first chance to attend a scientific meeting and present their work. Others are looking to present the culmination of years of their PhD research in the hopes of making connections to launch the next stage of their career. For many postdocs, they are hoping to expand their network and land a permanent position. Dozen of students and postdocs will only be able to attend with financial assistance. While any amount helps, $275 would fully cover the cost of registration for one grad student or postdoc. To kick things off, the president and vice-president of CSEE have each agreed to cover the registration costs for a student to CSEE. Please join them in helping to send more grad students and postdocs to our scientific meeting in Sherbrooke, Quebec

Le Fonds d’équité de la Société canadienne d’écologie et d’évolution permet d’envoyer des étudiant·e·s aux cycles supérieurs et des chercheur·e·s postdoctoraux à la conférence annuelle de la SCEE. Malheureusement, en ces temps difficiles, les besoins sont plus grands que nos ressources et nous n’avons pas assez de fonds pour répondre à la forte demande. C’est pourquoi nous vous demandons de nous aider à envoyer un·e étudiant·e·s aux cycles supérieurs ou un·e postdoc à la rencontre annuelle. Pour certain·e·s étudiant·e·s, c’est la première occasion d’assister à une rencontre scientifique et de présenter leur travail. D’autres souhaitent présenter le fruit de plusieurs années de recherche dans le cadre de leur doctorat, en espérant établir des contacts pour passer à la prochaine étape de leur carrière. Quant aux postdocs, ils·elles espèrent élargir leur réseau et décrocher un poste permanent. Une douzaine d’étudiant·e·s et de postdocs ne pourront participer qu’avec une aide financière. Bien que toute somme soit utile, 275 $ couvriraient entièrement les frais d’inscription d’un·e étudiant·e diplômé·e ou d’un·e postdoc. Pour commencer, le président et le vice-président de la SCEE ont chacun accepté de couvrir les frais d’inscription d’un·e étudiant·e à la SCEE. Joignez-vous à eux pour aider à envoyer plus d’étudiant·e·s diplômé·e·s et de postdocs à notre rencontre scientifique à Sherbrooke, au Québec.
