Send a Scholar to Showcase her Research in Chicago
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Elizza Villarruel and I am a fourth year pre-medical student pursuing a B.S. in Human Biology from UC San Diego. Born and raised in the cities Rosemead and La Puente, my family and life experiences have drawn me to pursue a career as a physician. As a Latina first-generation college student and daughter of immigrants, I have worked extremely hard towards achieving this goal of mine. My undergraduate career has consisted of three years as a Researcher’s Assistant at the School of Medicine, becoming a UCLA COPE Health Scholar, hundreds of hours of service work, and pursuing related research in the field of radiology.
For the past years, I have worked closely with an Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology in which we have developed a resource for practicing clinicians to help assess the likelihood that a bone lesion is metastatic in order to improve cancer evaluations. Our work was accepted for the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) Annual Meeting as an educational exhibit in which physicians nationwide attend for educational sessions, to view new research breakthroughs, and for instructional lessons. By attending this conference, I will not only participate in the above activities, but will also be able to showcase my project and network with physicians. I genuinely believe that attending this event will further my career as an aspiring physician.
This year, the ARRS Annual Meeting will take place in Chicago, Illinois from May 3rd-8th. The funds raised will be used to cover the cost of registration ($1599) air travel ($200) and a three night’s stay ($200/night). I write this in hopes that you can support me by considering to donate or sharing.
I thank you for your time and consideration!
