Send a first-gen student to a summer vet program
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ibeth Alvarracin and I am a first-generation Latinx. I am a rising senior at Clark University studying Biology with a minor in Spanish.
Like many, I have dreams. A dream of mine has been to be a veterinarian. Since the age of 5, I have always loved animals and wanted to care for them. As my dad tells me, I used to say, "I want to be a doctor for kitties and doggies." I was presented with a wonderful opportunity this summer: a summer enrichment program at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. The school is ranked #1 in the world and has had this program for 25 years. I was selected to attend as one of 14 for this 5-week rigorous program. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gain more veterinary medicine experience through clinical rotations and other teaching mechanisms.
I have encountered some financial difficulties recently and would have to pay for my entire trip myself. My flight and rent are going to be the most expensive part and have gotten no assistance from the university and haven't gotten much from other resources I've applied to. The donations I receive will help me cover most of the trip expenses.
This is an opportunity I do not want to pass up as it will bring me closer to my dreams!
